We have a new Junior Coach and with that an update on our 2016/17 summer Junior Programme.

Junior Programme Update

We've decided on a new start time for Saturday junior training.  Junior training will now start at 10.00 am on Saturdays.  The main reason for this was availability of our new junior coach, Geoff Holmes who has other coaching duties early Saturday morning.  The other reason is to allow other coaches and club members to assist with the junior programme after senior training has finished.  We will still meet at the Takapuna Boating Club on Saturdays.

The focus pre-Christmas will be on teaching skills and skill development. Key Objectives are:
  • Safety in the water
  • Open water swimming skills
  • Open water racing skills
  • Safety on the road
  • Road rules
  • Learning to ride safely in a pack
  • Fundamental bike skills
  • Basic running drills

The focus post-Christmas will be on coaching and solid training for local and national school races.

2016/17 NHTC Membership for juniors
Yearly membership for juniors is still $45.  Membership for the 2016/17 season is due on 30th October - Click Here to register

Training Fee Payment
For those juniors training regularly with the squad for more than four sessions per week, the cheapest option is to pay $55 per fortnight.  This covers all training sessions, including Saturday mornings.

For those who are only training one or two times per week, it's best to my a junior concession card.  Details for training payments are on the Fit For Fun website.

Parent Help

We will have one or two university students to assist with junior training on Saturdays, but we always appreciate extra parent help, especially having an extra parent to sit at the back of the pack as "safety."  Any parents who are willing to go on the parent roster (only one-two times per summer) - please call Stephen Farrell (head coach) on 021 348 367 or email at: fitforfun@xtra.co.nz
