    Swim Course

    The swim is a beach start. All participants must stand behind the line in sand and between the two orange cones.

    The start is sounded by the hooter.

    Swim is a rectangular course around two large buoys.

    500m swim = One lap

    750m swim = Two laps

    1000m swim = Two laps

    On the 750 and 1000m swims, all swimmers must either exit water and run around turn cone or buoy, or swim around swim buoy at water’s edge.

    The course will be patrolled by lifeguards on surf skis and an IRB for safety. Please raise your hand if you require assistance.

  • Athlete lying on grass wearing a triathlon suit, with a "Transition Area" sign in the background.

    Transition

    Transition is on the green in front of the beach to the right of the Takapuna Boating Club.

    Please lay your gear out in lines within the roped area to allow good flow of athletes from the swim to the run.

    IN is always up the ramp for both the swim and the run to finish.

    OUT for the run is at the southern end of the transition closet to the playground.

  • A group of people running on a beach with a distant island in the ocean under a blue sky.

    4km = Two laps

    5km = Two laps

    It is recommended that footwear be worn.
