Is this event for me?
Anyone aged 12 and above can participate in the series. We welcome individuals of all abilities, including those who are new to multi-sport events, as well as experienced triathletes.
Takapuna Beach is a stunning and safe environment for both the swim and run sections.
OK, so where do I sign up?
You can register online via our website. Simply choose the dates you’d like to participate in, fill in your details, and pay the registration fee. Multi-event discounts are available.
What are the distances?
Each race the swim and run legs differ in distance. The longest swim is 1km and the longest run is 5km.
Refer to each entry for the distances.
Do I need a wetsuit?
Wetsuits are not mandatory, but they are highly recommended, especially if you’re new to open-water swimming or if the water temperature is cooler.
Can I participate in only one leg of the event?
The event is designed as a swim-run challenge, so participants are expected to complete both the swim and run. However, relay teams are welcome, where one person swims and the other runs.
Can I register on the day of the event?
Yes, on-the-day registration is possible but only online. There is NO cash entries prior to race start. We recommend registering online in advance to secure your spot and arrive calmly ready to race.
What happens if I suddenly can’t make it?
We understand that things come up. You can cancel your registration up to 24 hours before the event date and receive a refund or transfer to a future race date. After that, cancellations will not be refunded, but you can transfer your entry to another date within the series.
What should I bring on event day?
We recommend bringing:
- Swim gear (wetsuit, goggles, swim cap)
- Running shoes and suitable clothing
- A towel and change of clothes
- Water bottle and post-race snacks
- Money to buy a burger and beverage after at the Takapuna Boat Club during prize giving
Can I bring my friends and family?
Absolutely! Spectators are welcome to cheer you on during both the swim and run portions. The beach is great for family and friends to watch the action and enjoy a summer’s evening.
What safety measures are in place…I don’t want to drown!
The safety of our participants is our top priority. Lifeguards will be stationed in the water with all people accounted for. Additionally, the course is well-marked, and first aid is available on-site.
What happens if the weather is bad?
In the event of severe weather, the Swim Run Series may be postponed or cancelled. We’ll notify participants via email and social media as early as possible. If cancelled, you can transfer your entry to another race date.
